In France, electricity demand changes throughout the day. Off-peak hours, when electricity is cheaper, usually fall between 12 PM–5 PM and 8 PM–8 AM; these times are set by ENEDIS and vary by municipality. They apply only to electricity, not gas. Peak hours, when electricity costs more, typically occur between 8 AM–12 PM and 5 PM–8 PM.
The Regulated Electricity Sales Tariff ("Blue Tariff") is set by the government and updated twice a year. It is only available from EDF.
Market offers are provided by all suppliers, who set their own prices. There are two main types:
- fixed-price offers, locking in your rate for one or several years to protect against price increases ;
- indexed offers, where prices follow changes in the regulated tariff—up or down—twice a year.
Some market offers include green electricity for a more eco-friendly energy choice.
ENGIE offers a referral program: refer friends or family and each of you can receive up to €25 per referral, which will be deducted from your bill about two months after the contract is activated. To participate, log into your Client Area, select “My benefits” (or “My profile” on the mobile app), then “Referral,” and share your referral code. You can refer up to 10 people per year, for a maximum annual bonus of €250.
