Reading your electricity meter in France
Do you have an electronic meter?
If you are on the basic setting:
Just press the scroll button marked D. The reading in kilowatt-hours is then displayed.
Peak / off-peak hours option:
Before taking your reading, first check which type of tariff you are on.
If you read your meter during the off-peak tariff period, press the scroll button marked D (Défilement/Scroll) twice: the first result you will see displayed shows the off-peak hours. The second shows the peak hours.
If you read your meter during the peak tariff period, press the scroll button marked D (Défilement) twice: the first result you will see displayed shows the peak hours. The second shows the off-peak hours.
Do you have an electromechanical meter?
If your meter only has one dial, this means you have the basic option: All you need to do is read the figures shown.
If your meter has two dials, then it is the peak / off-peak hours option: All you need to do is read the figures shown.
